Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are your hours?

A: Our class times are 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday.

Q: Do students bring their own lunches?

A: Students bring their own lunches and have access to a microwave for warm-ups. Please don’t send frozen food as it takes too long in the microwave. We are a nut-free campus and students may not bring any food items containing any kind of nuts.

Q: Do students wear uniforms and where can I get them from?

A: Our uniforms are navy blue SCA polos and khaki bottoms of your choice. Field trip uniforms are SCA tee shirts and jeans of your choice. The polos are $12, field trip shirts are $10, and hoodies are $20. Students get one uniform item covered in their registration fee. You can purchase from the school office or submit a SCA Uniform Order Request form.

Q: How do you incorporate the Bible into your day?

A: Every day begins with worship in each classroom. Bible class is taught as a separate subject and is scheduled into the day. Our students also participate in chapel once a week, on Friday mornings. All subjects are taught from a Biblical perspective.

Q: Do you offer extended care, like before or after school care?

A: At this time, we do not offer extended care. We would like to offer this option, but we need at least eight students enrolled in the program full time to staff the position.

Q: How old do students need to be to start school?

A: Students need to be 3 years old on or before September 1st of the current school year.

Q: What grades are available?

A: We offer pre-k3 through 8th grade.

Q: Do you offer part time pre-k?

A: Parents of pre-k students may choose to bring their students part-time, however, the tuition remains the same.

Q: How do you manage multi-grade classrooms?

A: Students rotate through teacher instruction and classwork time, according to grade.

Q: How can multi-grade classrooms benefit my child?

A: Your child will be exposed to more advanced learning by being in the same classroom with higher grades, and they may be able to cement their own knowledge by helping students in lower grades. Students are challenged to expand their knowledge beyond their grade level in subjects where they excel. SCA students consistently have above average scores on the standardized tests (MAP growth), and teachers use this information to target learning in areas where students need more instruction.

Q: How do I register my child to attend SCA?

A: Previously enrolled students need to pay the $200 registration fee by July 31 and submit the Tuition Policy form (pages 7 and 8). New students need to pay the $200 registration fee by July 31 and submit the child's birth certificate with the General Information form and Tuition Policy form. For both previously enrolled and new students, the rest of the registration packet is due before the student’s first day of attendance. A late registration fee of $400 applies when paid after July 31. You can get the registration packet from the school office or the SCA Registration page.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Registration fees may be paid by cash, check, credit card, or online via AdventistSchoolPay. Uniforms may be paid by cash, check, or credit card when you pick them up at the school office. Tuition must be paid online using FACTS Tuition Management.
